Hi guys..really Hope you can help!
Recently brought a new laptop (Metabox Alpha N850EJ). I managed to install linux mint 19 onto it via usb boot up thanks to help from you guys and some you tube videos..
However, now hit a bit of a snag... First time i turned it on, i am asked to type in my password, which i do, then the screen just goes black (can still move cursor around)..i know the password is correct.
I would really appreciate your help... Cant do much with a black screen ..slightly frustrating. Hope its a simple fix.
Any ideas appreciated.
The computers credentials as follows..
Intel core i7-8750H hexa core
Western digital 120 gb sata 3 m. 2ssd
Nvidia geforce gtx 1050 2gbgddr5 vram
8gb ddr4 2400 mhz memory
Intel 9462 ac dual band wifi/bt

Re: Black screen after typing password
You've got the same issue as I had
I asked the question on a video on switched to Linux ( https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ZP62c5ZBl ... e=youtu.be) and someone gave me this fix.
sounds like a "nomodset" fix for nvidia. I helped a guy out with the solution here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eI7QQqn ... 6858106432
Here are the instructions I posted.
after you turn on the computer press shift ( or esc on some machines ) and this will give you the grub boot menu.
Press E to edit. Follow what the guy does in this video and enter nomodeset using the arrow keys to navigate, replace "quiet splash" ( don't worry if you get it wrong first time its not a persistent change ) once you've entered the changes press F10.
Once at the desktop run all updates as shown in this ExplainingComputers video then run the driver manager and install your Nvidia driver and re-boot. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y1zZm8MHbyo
Feel free to view the comments I put on.
