Mint doesn't boot from CD at all (Asus N50VN)

Postby szu » Fri Jun 19, 2009 4:56 pm

I'd like to install Mint linux on my Asus N50VN notebook, I have Mint 6 and 7 installations CD's, but neither of them boots antyhing,
altough they work on other computers.

I've set boot priorities in BIOS so that CD/DVD is first. Moreover, other distributions of Linux work fine. When I power on the computer
with the CD inside, I can hear it's reading the disc for a while but all I can see is a black screen and I have to restart.

Please don't double post.

I assume you have tried other Linux Live CD's and they boot fine? If yes, did you burn the Mint CD's yourself? If so, did you check the md5sum of the download and the burn? If you did burn them yourself I assume you burned them as an ISO and not as a data file?

I have an Asus N50VN and it boots Linux Mint just fine. Maybe hardware problem? Or a problem with the cd?? You could also try booting from a liveusb.
