Fast when running Live USB slow after installation.

Post by palbatey »

Hi and thanks in advance for your attention. I have been playing around with different dists and have opted for Mint. Using a live USB it runs super fast but after I install it on my hard rive it comes to almost a halt.
I have tried with different drives and get the same results but the one I have install it unto runs Windows 10 normal.
I have so far updated and upgraded the OS, installed the latest drivers for the nVidia and Intel video cards to no avail. This is all after a vanilla installation of Cinnamon, MATE and xfce.
Below the sys info using the live USB.

Maybe also post the sysinfo using the installed {slow} version. There might be some differences evident.

Thanks for the reply lsemmens.
I reformatted my drive and installed Cinnamon and it's running at normal speed for the latop's specs.
It's an Intel i7 with 4GB RAM and an nVidia 3GB card, so it's handling Cinnamon well.
I'll try Xfce sometime again to see if it's faster.
