As mentioned I am a relative newbie to Linux MInt
My laptop is an Acer Aspire E5 15 with Radeon R2 Graphics with LM 4.14.0-36. It is encrypted
It is not a new install but had a recent kernel upgrade. It boots to the unlock disk sda5_crypt screen then when password entered successfully (cryptsetup (sda5_crypt): set up successfully) freezes with LM logo and 5 green/white dots
I have browsed various forums and tried various things including nomodeset and booting through Grub to an older kernel (4.14.0-24) all with no success
Can anyone help?
