SOLVED - Scanning for Btrfs - slow Bootup - started today

Hello,
Linux Mint 18.3 Cinnamon has been running very well for a couple of months now.
Today it took 10 minutes to boot, I rebooted three times in a row, and gave me these messages
Scanning for Btrfs file systems (- this line displayed once only)
[Numbers in square brackets ie 552.720805] Buffer I/O error on dev sr0 logical block 0 async page read
blk update request I/O error, dev sr0, sector 4
this goes on for at least 600 seconds if the numbers in the square brackets are some sort of clock, seems to take about 3 seconds to go through the cycle and display the next message on the screen, the block numbers and sector numbers go up with each iteration of the cycle
I did find a thread regarding bootup and btrfs on this forum but didn't understand much of it
Any tips or suggested readings please ? EDIT - inxiFxzd.odt attached below but it says "not downloaded yet"
EDIT - possible solved - had a CD in the slot and it may have been trying to boot from a video dvd
