"error: no symbol table" at bootup

Post by Modaljazz2018 »

I just booted into a NEW Mint 19 Tara MATE installation on a solid state drive. Hoping it would be faster than the standard USB drive I previously had been using. When computer boots I press F9 to get to the boot menu.....I choose the MINT 19 installation on SSD. Black screen then suddenly in upper left corer I see "error: no symbol table, press any key to continue" so I press a key and bootup is ok although still a bit slow for an SSD. Is this anything to worry about?

That's a problem with your boot loader. It's possible you're booting from a different one than the one you originally installed to. Once you successfully loaded the system, in a terminal window try

Code: Select all

sudo grub-install
Locked

Return to “Installation & Boot”
