did you change anything besides the /etc/lightdm/lightdm.conf ?
this is mine, replace yourusenamehere with your username:

Code: Select all

[Seat:*]
autologin-guest=false
autologin-user=yourusenamehere
autologin-user-timeout=0
greeter-show-manual-login=false

I don't know your reasons for wanting that but I feel I should point out that that's a terrible idea, more so because your posts show you don't fully understand the concepts. You will drastically lower the security of your system, and you risk accidentally breaking it. The choice is yours but don't say you haven't been warned.

You cannot run gedit, a graphical application, from a login shell. Run

Code: Select all

nano /etc/lightdm/lightdm.conf
from the root shell instead or just remove (rm) the file.

The file is unwritable
Cant update the file
Is a read only file system

Reason: Using the [rimg] tags (for remote images) with the link to the actual image makes your image appear directly inside the post. Nice, huh. :-)

Run

Code: Select all

mount -o rw,remount /
first.

I'll re-iterate how dangerous a permanent root login will be at your limited level of knowledge, you should find other ways. There is no way any application requires your desktop to run as root (unless it's malware).

First google result on how to install Joomla:

https://websiteforstudents.com/install- ... 1-support/

No need to run your GUI as root for that. sudo works perfectly fine. Might need to deviate from the guide for a different database choice in case you want to go with mysql, but there are no doubt plenty other guides out there.

Good luck! :)

But after some change in lighdm. conf file
Pro Tip! Before you change important system files, make a backup copy!

Code: Select all

sudo cp lightdm.conf lightdm.conf.save
Please edit your original post title to include [SOLVED] if/when it is solved!
Your data and OS are backed up....right?
