Install Mattgadient on Macbook

I booted linuxmint-18-cinnamon-64bit-mac-mattgadient.com.iso to mid 2007 MacBook. It boots, but won't install. The only thing that shows up is CD/DVD Drive and 1.6 GB Loop Device. The HDD does not show up. When I run the Install I get You need 9.9 GB disk space to install Linux Mint. This computer has only 0.0 B. I get that message after trying other HDD's, even a 120 GB one.

The 1 TB HDD is good. Has Linux Mint 18.0 on it. Just ran it on the old circa 2007 Dell laptop that I am presently using. My understanding is that the mattgadient should just work and install on the 64bit/32bit MacBook. Am I wrong about that?

did you try booting the normal Mint ISO ?

I looked for the specs of the mid 2007 macbook on everymac.com, and there are three models that come up :

they are just small variations on the same theme.
The point is that they all have a 64-bit CPU and a 64-bit EFI. So they should all be fit for the normal ISO.

It seems the system is not recognizing your hard drive. This may or may not be due to the Matt Gadient ISO, so it's best to try the official ISO from Mint.
While you are at it, I recommend using Mint 18.3, because it's more up to date and may have fixed some youth issues of 18.0.
You will probably also want to try another desktop edition. Cinnamon may be too heavy for this old machine, while Mate or Xfce should run better.

This particular MacBook has 64 bit processor and 32 bot EFI. That's a well known fact. It definitely will not boot a 64 bit iso. It will boot the 64 bit mattgradient iso for mac. It will boot 32bit iso's

gparted does not see the HDD, any HDD I put in it so it looks like there is a hardware problem.

You can jump through a lot of hoops and do that. Info at mattgadient.com. The mattgadient iso for mac has that included so you don't have to roll your own.

The precision does make a difference because these models indeed have a 32-bit EFI.

The mattgadient iso for mac has that included so you don't have to roll your own.

Not exactly : The matt gadient ISO in fact removes all EFI bootloader and makes the ISO Legacy-only. Quoting from the website :
"The cleanest solution (I’ll go into alternative solutions in following sections) is to change the disk image to be BIOS-only (non-EFI)"

Another alternative is to try directly the 32-bit ISO. Also try a macOS DVD : can it see the hard drive through Disk Utility ?
If none of these can see the hard drive then indeed there is a hardware problem.

It is a mid 2007. Is it or is it not 32bit/64bit? Documentation says it,s straight 64bit. I can boot 32 bit live distro. Can not boot 64 bit live distro, except for the 64bit mattgradient mint 18 for mac. It will boot mint 18.0 cinnamon 64bit HDD I removed from another machine. It will not recognize more than about 3.5 GB of RAM from 2 GB sticks-that sounds like 32bit to me.I finally got the mattgradient mint 18 cinnamon installed. I do have to press and hold the option key while and after pressing the "on" button and then select the "Windows" icon that comes up on the screen after a short while. i did have to press and hold the option key while pressing the on button to get mattgradient to install. I also had to run dd to wipe the drive before I had a successful install. just booting the Mattgradient w/out option did not get me very far.

This version of Mac looks like Microsoft and Apple got to geather and had an illegitimate child. Even the cpu is hard soldered to the mobo. CPU is 64bit - Instruction Set 64-bit - https://ark.intel.com/products/27256/In ... 67-MHz-FSB
