I am receiving errors that I'm almost certain relate to the less than 12 month old SSD drive that Mint uses to boot from ("ata2" ?). I believe it is relating to failure to read and / or read to certain portions of the disk.
I've tried re-seating the drive in the case but the errors are still happening.
The error doesn't happen on every single shutdown or bootup event, but maybe 8 times of 10. When it does happen it is almost always when shutting down, but on occasion it occurs when booting up.
This will delay shutdown and boot up by at least several seconds.
Everything else about the system is working just great for daily use, just there is almost always this error that is occurring.
I've no idea how to record these errors to display them in the forums however, so I'll also need some help with that.
Could it mean a time is coming to reformat and re-install? I only installed Mint 18.3 less than 12 months ago....
