I have an HP Z400 Workstation running Linux Mint 18.3 dual booted with Windows 7. When LM 19 was first released I tried the upgrade route from 18.3 to 19 but this failed, so I downloaded the iso and burned the image to a DVD but this failed immediately after the first splash screen returning a terminal error "Kernel panic - not syncing: Attempted to kill init". I've burned three discs using different software and also downloaded the v2 iso but all fail in the same way. I've tried all the options given in the release notes, Compatibility Mode, nomodeset etc, but none of these work either.
I re-installed 18.3 and have been looking for a solution for this ever since without success.
The issue appears to be with Ubuntu 18.04 as this also fails in the same way.
HOWEVER, Both Ubuntu 18.04 and LM19 can be installed and work in VirtualBox from the same installation discs.
The error message spans two screens and the first one is too fast to read but I video'd it on my phone and managed to get it.
The output of inxi -Fxxz is included below.
