Installing Mint 19 Cinnamon to USB with 64GB space.

Post by Hundjager »

Is this doable? I only want to use Mint when the USB is in the device.

Do I use Rufus or is there a better alternative?

Thank you for reading.

Hello Hundjager and Welcome to Linux Mint Forums,

I'm not quite sure what you are asking, Do you want to use the live usb and save your work to that usb? if so it's called live with persistence and it can be done , but you may be better off with a distro that already does that like Puppy or anti-x. However mint can be done with persistence if wanted. here is a page that can help. http://tuxtweaks.com/2014/03/create-lin ... -live-usb/ the article is a bit old now but should still work. I would use the usb creator found in in mint instead of unetbootin used in the article.
The other way would be to use another usb with the live distro on it and directly install mint to the 64 gb. drive but you'll quickly run out of room with that. But in that case you would treat the usb drive just like a H.D. and partition it accordingly. Good luck in your search. Also if you just want to try linux mint and save any work done it may be better to either dual boot or use a Virtual machine such as Virtual Box with windows as the host machine.
