Linux system won't boot up.

Post by newtonmunene »

Hey guys, I'm running Linux Mint 19 and I've been using Linux for almost a year now. All of a sudden I can't seem to boot into the system. I had a similar issue a few days ago but a simple fsck fixed it.
The laptop boots up correctly although it now takes longer than usual. Way longer almost 2 minutes. It gets to the login screen. When I login the screen just goes black and displays a couple of errors. Like

Code: Select all

buffer i/o error on dev sda1,logical block 0,lost sync page write
I know there's similar questions in different forums but I've tried almost everything.

You need to try a new hard disk. Yours has died. You can try booting from a live media but there's no guarantee the drive will be seen so you may have to rely on your backups to get your treasured stuff back.
