I think this is a problem with your BIOS - probably the motherboard is a bit too old
I have a fairly new motherboard that does not have the possibility to boot from a pen drive
You may have to change some setting(s) in BIOS - there can be several boot from USB options

I have a Transcend JF v30 2GB flash drive and tried to make a LiveUSB from it. Tried both, unetbootin and pendrivelinux.com, tools, but every time result is the same. BIOS detects the flash drive, but instantly spits out "Boot Error". Nothing in detail. :? Also tried formatting the flash drive as fat, but then BIOS doesn't detect it at all. This is very confusing... Any ideas/suggestions/comments would be appreciated.
I have the same issue with my 4gb flash drive. Try removing the main HD then try booting up the flash drive.

I installed the USB drive while the main HD was physically removed from the laptop.
So, the flash drive, loaded with Mint 7 32bit, will only boot up when the HD is not in the computer.
Even if I go into the BIOS and change the settings to allow the flash drive to boot first, the boot sequence stops just before the desktop should come up.
My error message is something like, can't find sba1. I interpret that to mean the boot loader is confused and doesn't know which drive to let boot up.

How can this issue be fixed?
