Install Using aAnother Machine.

Post by borgward »

Why can I not install Mint Mate 18.1 32bit using a modern machine and then booting the drive in a different machine ? I did so using Mint Mate 13, antix-17.3.1, Centos 5.7. All No problem when the drives were put in the old machine. The 18.1 install runs the different chipset, USB, LPT, everything except the video. !8.1 live runs everything including SCSI scanner and Gimp. Is there a design reason to not run the video on the install? A security reason?

I have in the past used my modern machine to install linux on HDD to be put in an older machine w/different parts. I have done so for a lot of PII and PIII's that I made available to others.
