Please post the terminal output for:

Code: Select all

cat /etc/apt/sources.list.d/additional-repositories.list
You could just mark the output and copy it like you would do with any other text and paste it back here in your reply.

The easiest way is reinstall the additional- repositories file.
Boot into Live CD/USB. Then run Nemo as root. Go to the filesystem (its means that your Live USB)/etc/apt/sources.list.d. Copy and replace into your Mint installation drive into the same folder. Reboot and refresh the cache.
Before you refresh cache, just clean little bit the old cache.

Code: Select all

sudo apt clean 0
Then got a refresh cache.

Code: Select all

sudo apt update
It should works for normally now.
5 years using Linux Mint, it's feels like my own neighbourhood.

"Additional" repositories don't exist on the installation medium, they are user-added.

The downloaded package archive (first command) is very much unrelated to the repository lists (this topic, second command).

Run this:

Code: Select all

sudo tee /etc/apt/sources.list.d/additional-repositories.list <<<"deb https://dl.winehq.org/wine-builds/ubuntu/ bionic main"

Ok. After I entered that into the terminal, I got this:

Code: Select all

deb https://dl.winehq.org/wine-builds/ubuntu/ bionic main

Yeah that's fine. But I had a typo in that previous one so do this as well, sry:

Code: Select all

sudo rm /etc/apt/sources.list.d/additional-repositories.list
After that you can run

Code: Select all

apt update

Did that, got a list of updates.

The Update Manger still has a red X on it...

As long as the apt update went through without errors you can just restart Update Manager or hit Refresh on it and it'll be ok.
