Installed 18.1 Serena from live DVD, now blank screen

Post by luvlinuxmint »

I have Mint 18.1 running on my desktop. I used the same live DVD that I used for that install to install to an HP laptop. I did a complete install wiping out M$ Windows and accepted the defaults without LVM. This lap top has 2xAMD A6 processors with 3.3GB of RAM, 64 bit

Now when it boots I get a blank screen, no login prompt. Win8 was working before I wiped it out.

It still will boot from the live DVD, Any hints on what to try?

Thanks for any help.

I should have made a note of that before I trashed Windows. Is there a way that I can get that info using the live DVD?

I made a different choice from the boot menu and now it works. Real slow though.

Open a terminal an run:

Code: Select all

lspci -vnn | grep VGA -A 12
