Please, Cinn or MATE for Lenovo ThinkPad X1 second gen?

Post by UUUnicorn »

Thank you very much in advance for any and all advice and help.

Please, I've an old Lenovo ThinkPad X1 second-generation ultrabook with the following hardware specifications:

Intel Core i5-2520M microprocessor
8GB RAM (already upgraded and maxed out)
128 GB internal solid-state hard drive.

Please, if someone could help me choose/decide between Linux Mint 19.1 Cinnamon or MATE, I'd be very appreciative.

Thank you very much again.

Yours truly,

UUUnicorn

Cinnamon should run great on this one. You may need to come up with some touch screen drivers though.

I second Tomgin5 on this one. An i5 processor and 8gb of RAM is perfect for Cinnamon. Maybe I've just been running Cinnamon for so long but it's easy, well laid out, configurable. There's a reason why Cinnamon is the Mint flagship DE.

Tomgin5, my ultrabook is from around 2011 and is not a touchscreen device (not to my knowledge, anyway).

Thank you very much again to both.
