lagging and D/l issues with LM 19.1

Post by 69Rixter »

Afternoon:

Yesterday, I "installed" LM 19.1 onto a PNY 16Gb (2.0) pendrive. I'm having a multitude of issues already. First off, the O.S. experiences excessive lagging and freezes. I wonder if this will alleviate the more I use it? In keeping with that issue, D/l and "updates" also take far too long (IMO) to implement. Today I'll try to install flash player and VLC. I'll let you know how that turns out. I would like to hear from those who've experienced these problems and what you did to rectify the situation. I don't think there should be these problems on a new distro(?). Anyone wish to comment?
THANX:

addendum:
Today (Sat.) I applied "updates "(6) from update mngr. Took just shy of 52 mins.(???) VLC did D/l and install and seems to be working.Flash player issue solved. Still having the lagging/freezing issues...plus, I've tried multiple times to move the time/date to the left in the task bar. Each time it reverts right back to where it was. Problem: the time/date is sssooo far to the right in the task bar, it cannot be read/displayed. Would appreciate some help!

RE: EVERYONE

OK, getting no responses. Maybe I've worded this thread wrong, or perhaps, there's no one here that has experience with running a full install from a pendrive? So, I'll ask, can anyone direct me to a forum/help site/tutorial that might be able to address some of the problems I'm experiencing? I have watched a video on youtube that addressed one of the problems I've had, but not the one most important..i.e. lagging/freezes. I went back through some of my threads and noticed (already knew) the problems arose after I left LM17.3. Could it be the LM 18 series and now the Lm 19 series are just not suited to run from a pendrive??? Find that a bit difficult to accept, don't you? So, as this forum should be the ultimate help forum for LinuxMint(???) is there anyone here that could offer help and/or advice to the problems I've posted about? If not, OK, could you direct me to a forum or tutorial that may be able to help? Or even a suggestion to another unix/ubuntu distro that works well from a pendrive.

Appreciated:

OK, I wish to THANK Pjtor for his response. IF anyone is interested, it has been stated that running 'full install" from a pendrive isn't the best thing to do. And, reducing the swapiness "should" decrease the amount lagging. I guess I'll try running "live". Hope I don't have problems there. Marking this thread "solved"...even though I doubt there was much here to help anyone.
