linux mint 19.1 Cinnamon stability issues

Post by psg9196 » Tue Feb 12, 2019 9:29 am

Hi all,

Ever since I upgraded to mint 19 and then 19.1 I was having stability issues but they were tolerable.
After recent upgrades (I believe tied to the mesa drivers upgrade on February 9 2019) Firefox started crashing tabs or entirely every minute (Chrome less often) and the entire OS freezes at random - I am not even able to open a console thru Ctrl+Alt+F1.

Before I start downgrading, I wanted to see if there is anything that can be done.
My laptop is Assus UX501V:

There was an update to the adobe-flashplayer today that seems to stabilize Firefox (so far).

I'll post an update later if the OS is more stable because of this. If this is the case it is still puzzling how a plugin in user space can freeze the entire OS. I thought this was reserved for Windows.

It's been stable so far - even before the two additional updates (gvfs and webkit)...

Good that it's stable now.
