I did use the word b... But there is some censor-algorithm on this forum that keeps changing it to "princess".
Intentions are ok. We do not want to start calling one another b..... if we get angry right.

Hi
I thought you all would like an update on the situation

One new dell laptop arrived this morning
made a back up image and stored the horrible win 10 on an external HD and made a recovery disk
,
If I wanted a female to tell me how to turn a computer on I might have left it intact
but cortina YUKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK !

So went to install LM
cant find the 256GB SSD, its there in the bios , but df -H shows nothing, the bios shows it as a pci device,
yet lspci showed no sign of it. Its a good thing that LM starts up running on the DVD before install.

Then spent 1hour 15 mins on the phone to Dell support, still the damn SSD wont appear, now a replacement unit will be shipped with ubuntu on it
They have made sure that you can not load anything else on the computer !!!

Now that may arrive with ubntu 16.04 on it , ancient , and that will need changing to LM
All because one salesman couldn't tell the truth ,
Its Easter comming up so just hope a large burning cross gets put where the sun never shines from on him.

It could be that this has nothing to do with an untruthful sales rep and everything to do with the SSD being in RAID mode, teamed with a hard disk and acting as a cache. If that's correct then you need to break the RAID array in BIOS before linux will see the drive. Of course, you take a disk image before you do that.

Strange sense of humour you have, must be something to do with the gravity down under, must pull the oxygenated blood towards the feet
I'm not amused by it !

Yes, it does. I find that wearing compression socks helps.
I'm not amused by it !
That's quite ok. At least you were given the opportunity.

Just to clarify, the lol wasn't at your expense in terms of your misfortune. It was a technician's lol at being given a key piece of missing information right at the very end of the investigation, something that happens a lot. So, that said, lighten up.
