(SOLVED) Unable to see SSD to install

Post by mintbars »

Get to USB live demo install - only sees 16GB USB stick - not SSD.

Intel NUC - new
No OS
SSD
Linux install only - no dual boot
BIOS updated
Several ISO downloads of OS to verify
Both by Mac and PC
Unable to load other distros
In the BIOS - it sees SSD
Errors include NVME controller is down - will reset
And cdrom mount - failed to connect to stdout to the journal socket
FAILED umounting/cdrom

Tried UEFI/Legacy
Turned off Secure Boot
Switched from AHCI

Suggestions appreciated.

Thanks

Simplest installation is with legacy bios and AHCI mode, but UEFI with secure boot off and AHCI should work. Mint is not compatible with Intel RAID mode. The kernel on the distro that you are using might not have proper support for your new NUC. Please run the command below and post output:

Code: Select all

inxi -Fxz

Intel NUC 8i5BEK
Installed approved SSD from Intel site for Intel NUC. Worked right away...

Do you have the make and model of the SSD that don't work and the one that does? Trying to find out why one works and one don't.
