Lenovo flex 6 amd ryzen 3 mint 19.1 tessa cinnamon

Post by amrivas » Tue Jul 30, 2019 11:29 pm

Hello,

I am trying to install Mint on a lenovo. I had to install in compatibility mode. I disable secure boot and put legacy instead of UEFI on the bios. It has issues like the trackpad, wifi and the video not working. I found on the web how to make the WIFI realtek rtl8821ce work with this page https://easylinuxtipsproject.blogspot.c ... .html#ID10 and this video https://youtu.be/xlpP8mS7dQo using also this code

Code: Select all

echo "blacklist ideapad_laptop" | sudo tee /etc/modprobe.d/ideapad.conf
As in the video I upgraded the kernel to 5.0 but when I did it, it disable the WIFI, when I tried to make it work again with the previous steps it froze and had to reinstall again.

If I do instead of upgrading the kernel an update it will crash at some point with some update (I do not know which) and will not work again so I had to install again.

Any help would be appreciated.

Gracias

Please post an inxi -Fxz report. This will give us a concise overview of your hardware and on how Mint sees it.

Here is how to generate the report and post it:

Boot from your install media (USB/DVD)
Open a terminal window. Make it fullscreen to avoid unneeded linebreaks or chopped lines. Execute the command

Code: Select all

 inxi -Fxzd
exactly as it has been typed here.

Mark the complete text output which the command will display with your mouse.
Press the keyboard shortcut <Shift><Ctrl>C to copy the marked text into the clipboard.
Enclose the results between the code markers by selecting </> from the mini toolbar above the textbox where you type your reply then paste <Ctrl>V them in your reply between the code markers.

The results will help us to help you.

I would start a new thread with a subject of something like " Lenovo flex 6 video and trackpad problems" and describe the problems. Include the inxi -Fxz report in the post. You can reference this post so others can get more background info.

You can try by installing Kernel 5.x . Reboot and test.
In case you want to revert back to the present kernel, you can do so by choosing advance option in Grub.

I got all the updates that the update manager displayed. The only one I did not updated was the kernel 4.15.0.55.57 soooo now that I have that, the thing is to chose which one to install. And after that then get the other issues fixed. Any suggestions on kernel version to install? or should I do test an error?

With ukuu you can try installing the latest kernel of 5 series ,though it's not supported by Mint. Reboot to it and test.
Which kernel is installed now?

i upgraded to kernel 5.1 at least now my USB Ethernet adapter works. So, my trackpad is working, video is working, just missing WIFI and function keys on keyboard.

I will create a new thread for the WIFI
