Replacing Ubuntu

Hi all,

I have been using Ubuntu off and on for a while now and I want to give linuxMint a try.

My machine is currently set to dual boot Ubuntu and Vista via Grub and this works fine.

Previously I have set a separate \home in case I ever had problems or wanted a change. Can any one tell me how to go about removing Ubuntu and installing Mint.

Thanks in advance
Jim
Linux Newbie'ish

P.S. I want to end up with a dual boot system with Mint and Vista

Try the obvious - click on the Install button on the liveCD.
- Make sure that you know just which partition that Ubuntu is installed on.
Reboot into Ubuntu if you are not sure.
-> re-use that partition for Mint - using the advanced option in the partitioning dialogue of the installer,
( check the format box)
keeping both your existing /home & existing /swap partitions .

post back how you go .....

Cheers Guys,

I will give this a go when I get home from work and can play with my laptop. I'll get back to you how it went

Hi All,

In the end I chose to install LM7 alongside the other two OS's as I had the disk space to do it and then try out LM7. The installer was well organised for dealing with this (better than I remember the Ubuntu one being)

Thanks for your help
