(Solved) Mint 19.3 Xfce Crash

Post by kato181 »

I have installed Mint 19.3 in Cinnamon and Xfce desktop, edited the smb.conf and fstab files on both to enable me to see the drives on my other computers and cinnamon worked. So I did exactly the same with Xfce and yikes!!!!!
The following error msgs appear and I can't boot into Xfce whatsoever after editing the fstab exactly the same as Cinnamon

[ 1.285384] couldn't get size 0x800000000000000e
[1.376097] nouvea 000:08:00.0 unknown chipset 1680000a1
[5.051066] FAT-fs (sda1) : unrecognized mount option "unmask=000 or missing value
You are in emergency mode. After logging in, type "journalctl -xb" to view system logs, "systemctl reboot" to reboot, "systemctl default" or "exit" to boot into default mode.
Give root password for maintenance.
[ 105.094218] ucsi_ccg 0-0008:failed to reset PPM!
[ 105.094238] usci_ccg 0-0008:PPM init failed (-110)
So it maybe a huge bug in Xfce or something wrong in my fstab, but when I could edit it it was the same as Cinnamon fstab. Now when I try to edit fstab I get the following error...
Error reading lock file /etc/.fstb.swp:not enough data read..

Then when I boot into Cinnamon after a reboot, I now get this error Signature not signed with a trusted key.
Unlock login keyring. Enter password to unlock your keyring.
The login keyring did not get unlocked when you logged into your computer.
But it booted into Cinnamon ok
Just wondering if anybody else is getting problems with mint 19.3 in Cinnamon and especially Xfce. I know it only in beta form but if it's not me then big problem with Xfce.

Sounds like you are the bug. Your fstab is fubar.

That should have been umask, not unmask

MrEen
You are correct..typo on my end..big fingers, small kb, and never checked the imput..Lesson learned..Always check before you save..Might have to reinstall xfce as I now can't edit the fstab.
Thanks for the bug link Catweazel
