Problem with reboot

Postby jimmydee » Mon Aug 17, 2009 5:59 pm

I have two hard drives in my computer, one with Windows XP, and the other with Linux Mint. The hard drive with windows is SATA, whereas the hard drive with Linux Mint is ATA. When I shut down Linux Mint, or reboot into Linux Mint, with both drives connected, I get an error saying my bios is missing something it needs. When I disconnect the SATA drive, then boot into linux, I don't have any problems. When I want to boot into windows, I shut down the computer and disconnect my ATA drive. It's the only way I can keep my Linux Mint running. My processor is dual and X64, and my Linux Mint is also X64. Does anyone have any suggestions?

This is a known problem in Mint right now (mixing SATA and IDE drives) which I understand will be corrected in the next release.
