resume image kinit

Postby gecko91 » Mon Aug 31, 2009 9:00 pm

I don't know if this is normal, but when I boot some of the first lines to come up are something like this:
kinit: trying to resume from /dev/disk/...
kinit: no resume image, doing normal boot

Running dmesg | -i resume give me this

Code: Select all

[    3.486863] PM: Starting manual resume from disk
[    3.486867] PM: Resume from partition 8:5
[    3.487045] PM: Resume from disk failed.

This takes about two seconds of the boot. A fast boot time is rather important in this situation, I was wondering if there is a way just to do a normal boot and not try to resume from resume image.

It looks like a failure to resume from hibernate but this seems to be the normal routine
The kernel checks if there is an image to resume from and if there is none performs a normal boot
I've got
7.172444] PM: Starting manual resume from disk
[ 7.172447] PM: Resume from partition 8:1
[ 7.172449] PM: Checking hibernation image.
[ 7.172563] PM: Resume from disk failed.
[ 7.176027] usb 2-7: new full speed USB device

As you see the time used is minute 7.176027 - 7.172444 seconds and it's about the same for you in the part I see - not two seconds
So check what comes next and the time used
Don't fix it if it ain't broken, don't break it if you can't fix it
