Mint 19.3 Cinnamon - AMD 7670 Problem

Post by trexxon »

Hi guys.

I am a newbie.

I am trying to solve this issue . my linux won't start unless i write radeon.modeset=0 .

when i write it it starts but it shouldn't be like that afaik . i have a samsung laptop , it has amd 7670m gpu also intel graphic card .

Graphics:
Device-1: Intel 3rd Gen Core processor Graphics driver: i915 v: kernel
Device-2: AMD Thames [Radeon HD 7500M/7600M Series] driver: N/A
Display: x11 server: X.Org 1.20.5 driver: modesetting unloaded: fbdev,vesa
resolution: 1366x768~60Hz
OpenGL: renderer: Mesa DRI Intel Ivybridge Mobile v: 4.2 Mesa 19.2.8

i am dual booting . i wiped my win 10 and reinstalled it then installed linux hoping problem will go away but it didn't.

As i understand my amd driver is missing . i tried to install compatible driver from amd's site but it gave me an error

~/Downloads$ ./AMD-Catalyst-15.9-Linux-installer-15.201.1151-x86.x86_64.run
