Graphical Disaster at boot

Postby sheffne » Wed Sep 02, 2009 3:25 pm

I am using the latest Linux Mint (just installed today). The first time I booted into it (after install) it was fine and worked. I shut down and turned it on a bit later, and now right before I get desktop usually I get what someone described as a Graphics Disaster, there are a whole bunch of lines and squares but nothing readable at all. I think that the system loads normally in the background, cause I can hear login sounds.

I am running it on AMD Athlon 64 3400, 1.5GB RAM, and ATI Radeon 9600SE. I think the problem lies in the video card, but if so, why was I able to get to desktop during install and after the first reboot?

Thank you in advance.

Try booting into recovery mode, and then choose the "fix graphics problems" option...
