As expected, I see nothing suspicious in the command outputs you posted. Unfortunately, at this moment I have no further ideas what to check, besides already mentioned capacitors and connections. I think that, if direct booting in the bios happens always after the machine is shut down for a longer time, hardware problems may be present.

I have taken your advice and had a good look at the circuit boards, the components look ok!
I have to report, (apart from the initial boot up), since changing the motherboard battery the system has performed up as normal. Well here's hoping that has solved my problem.
