Is it possible to replace Win10 with Linux mint on MS Surface Go

Post by Arch4751 »

My wife has inherited an "MS Surface Go" laptop retired from my daughter's business.
I want to replace the factory installed Win 10 home with Linux Mint (Cinnamon).
It has one USBC port.
My concern lies in whether MS would allow such liberties.
I have previously (with a lot of help from this forum and other online sources) installed same on
an external SSD for a laptop with an intractable hard drive recognition problem, but would by far prefer
an "on board" installation this time to banish Windows forever.
My question... Is there any technical reason why this cannot or should not be done?

Before asking for help do a web search to see if you can find the answers yourself. For example searching for "MS Surface Go Linux Mint" finds several recent articles on that. If you get stuck with such you can make a topic here to ask for help with whatever step you're stuck on.

I've been considering buying a MS Surface to replace my iPad. I'm tired of having to deal with iTunes!

Having looked up running MS Surface with Linux on the net, I found that many Linux distro's, with one exception, had installation issues on the MS Surface.

Look for "Eevnos Linux" on YouTube. This guy has video's on how to install and use Linux on the MS Surface on his channel.
