I am 100% Mint 20.1 with kernel 5.10 operating very nicely. I received the 5.10 directly from update manager and it has already been updated twice since.
Now, I like to keep up with the latest release, but, from what I read, Mint 20.2 will still be based on kernel 5.4. What should I do, if anything, about the change. If the 5.10 would continue to control, then I want to do 20.2. If not, then probably not.

Re: Mint 20.2
The default kernel on both Linux Mint 20.1 and 20.2 is 5.4. You can install a different kernel. If you upgrade in place to a next minor release the kernel is not replaced, nor are most other low-level operating system components replaced. That only happens when upgrading to a next major release (e.g., to Linux Mint 21). Upgrading in place will be possible through Update Manager some time after the final release of 20.2 is done. Announcement and instructions will be published on https://blog.linuxmint.com/.
Re: Mint 20.2
As xenopeek said, minor version upgrades don't affect the kernel I think.
