Webcam is always on when running Linux from bootable USB driver

Post by Lulù »

I installed Linux Mint on a bootable usb driver, but when I run it the webcam led is always on, and I'm worried that if I install it on my laptop the problem will continue existing, so I want to solve it with the bootable usb. My version of mint is 20 amd64 and the deckstop environment is MATE; my laptop is a Lenovo ideapad 100-15IBD. Thank you in advance!

Welcome to the forum.

Normally there is a way to turn off the webcam. Perhaps Fn+F10??

On my computer there aren't any keys for deactivatijg the webcam. I tried Fn+F10 though but the led is still on.

Oddly enough, I think you are right about that. Seems strange to me.
I don't know of a way to give you a on/off switch for your camera. Sorry.

This video say F8, but that won't work on your machine:
