Windows boot option not showing after upgrade to 20.2

Post by Kwekkel »

Hi,

After upgrade to 20.2 the option to boot in Windows 10 is not listed anymore.

Tried by editing 40_custom in /etc/grub.d but no go.

Any ideas to get the Windows 10 boot option back?

Thanks.

Welcome to the forum. Sorry nobody posted until now.
Do a search for 'grub repair'. I have never done it, so won't be much help.
I think just a single terminal command might fix it, but I don't know that command.
I assume you can select windows from the bios boot menu and it works.

Booting from live usb and update-grub.

Are you booting in Legacy BIOS or EFI mode ?
Also, inxi -Fxxxrz may help.

Also, what specific changes were made to /etc/grub.d/40_custom ?

Have you tried sudo update-grub in your installed Linux Mint ?

If you go into BIOS and select either the drive with win or the 'windows boot loader' does it boot? Don't know which because you haven't said whether you are booting UEFI or legacy?
