Can't boot with linux-image-5.4.0-80
I installed Linux Mint 20.2 on mac mini 2018 to external usb ssd.
It worked fine with linux-image-5.4.0-74.
But after updating to linux-image-5.4.0-80, it fails to boot because it can't find the root disk.
(It shows the message "ALERT! UUID=XXXX does not exist. ..." at boot time and drop to busybox.)
I checked the /dev directory, and can't find /dev/sd* devices. In /proc/modules, usb_storage isn't contained.
How can I fix this problem?

Thank you for your reply.
I use rEFInd instead of grub and I could select old kernel by F2 key.

Unfortunately, with the exception of the inxi output, you've been given a bum steer. Please post the output of these two commands:
Code: Select all
lsblk -f
Code: Select all
cat /etc/fstab

Thank you for your confirmation.
Additional command results are as follows.
cat /etc/fstab

Re: Can't boot with linux-image-5.4.0-80
With linux-image-5.4.0-80, after it failed to find the root disk, I unplugged the external ssd drive but no message was displayed.
(I connected the root disk via USB type-c port of mac mini. )
I connected another usb memory via USB type-c port using USB type-c type-a conversion cable, but no message was displayed as well.
When I connected the same usb memory via USB type-A port, it showed the messages of 'USB MASS Storage device detected'.
It seems that the usb device connected via USB type-c port of mac mini 2018 isn't recognized by linux-image-5.4.0-80.

I re-connected the external ssd root drive via USB type-a port and it suceeded in booting with linux-image-5.4.0-80.
Re: Can't boot with linux-image-5.4.0-80
I updated to linux-image-5.4.0-84-generic and this problem was solved.
Re: Can't boot with linux-image-5.4.0-80
With linux-image-5.4.0-90 or linux-image-5.4.0-91, the same issue occurs.
