Laptop hangs on boot up
I was given a decent gaming laptop running Windows 10. I have no interest in Windows so installed the latest version of Linux Mint. The installation went fine but initially, although the mouse cursor was there, the trackpad wouldn’t move it. I plugged in a wireless mouse and away it went. I had to switch off for a while but rebooted it when I got back. Now, all I get are a few lines of text in a black background, which then goes, leaving me staring at a black screen. Any suggestions?

Boot into windows and disable faststartup: (fast boot; fast start)
