I can probably get the driver with a different computer, put it on a flash drive and install it. Any hints?

First, you need a temporary connection: https://easylinuxtipsproject.blogspot.c ... ernet.html
Be sure secure boot is disabled in Bios. Then do:

Code: Select all

 sudo apt-get install rtl8821ce-dkms
Reboot

I ran down to the store and bought a USB C to ethernet adapter and plugged it in. It appeared to work and began the updates before I tried to download the wifi driver. it locked up and the notebook now refuses to TURN OFF!. I cannot get back to make secure is off. The laptop says that 2 updates are needed and a new loader. It then says that it cannot do either because it is busy?

If you can open the Terminal, type shutdown & press Enter. If that won't work, you might be forced to hold the power button down until it shuts off.

Thank You sleeper. The xbox is now taking the updates and installing them. I am not sure the WIFI is working yet now that the security is now turned off. I also found the bios was not set for legacy. It must have not take the first time around.
It reboots smoothly now in about 20 seconds and ges through all of the steps :P
The WIFI works now also! :D :P
