LM20.2 Installation fails on HP Laptop

Post by Bayvista170 »

I'm trying to install LM 20.2 on a new HP Laptop 14s-fq0513AU. I booted Mint from a USB. At 'Installation Type' step it crashes. The message says that details will be sent to the development team. Secure Boot is disabled. This is the first time that I have not been able to install LM. I have read and tried many suggestions this Forum. Any suggestions welcome.

Did Win 10 or 11 come preinstalled on that laptop?

Please post an inxi -Fxpmzr report. This will give us a concise overview of your hardware and how Mint sees it per  How to get help .

Here is how to generate the report and post it:

Boot from your installation media (USB/DVD)
Open a terminal window (Ctrl-Alt-t). Make it fullscreen to avoid unneeded linebreaks or chopped lines. Copy the following code and paste into the terminal (Ctrl-Shft-V) then hit Enter/Return:

Code: Select all

inxi -Fxpmrz
exactly as it has been typed here.

Go to Edit, Select All, and then Copy, come back here, click on reply then code tags, </>, and then paste.
The results will help us to help you.

Did you perform the Authenticity and Integrity check on your LM20.2 ISO file?

Reference:
Verify your ISO image
🐧Linux Mint 20.3 XFCE (UEFI - Secure Boot Enabled) dual boot with Windows 11

Yes, I did all that. I also read the Documentation and tried an earlier release (19.1).

There is obviously a bug in the Installer (see my earlier post). How do I report this to the Development Team?
