Installation problem HP scanner
I don't know if this is the right topic, but I can't install a driver for my HP scanner (all-in-one printer 2710e). The driver provided by HP isn't good!
Who can help me to solve this problem?
Thanks!

Re: Installation problem HP scanner
Try Xsane from Software Manager.
If that doesn't work, post back - follow number 5 in the following link. Also state whether how you are connecting to the mfp.

Sorry, for my late reaction!
I use Mint 20.1 (Ulyssa)
64 processor
I'm connected with my printer via USB
(I'm just a beginner!)

Re: Installation problem HP scanner
Switch on your scanner. Can you go into Terminal and copy/paste the following line. Does your scanner show up?
Code: Select all
sane-find-scanner -v

Re: Installation problem HP scanner
Ok - see if the following command shows something - should at least show the printer part.
You could try 'driverless'/airprint. Your printer supports that.
Just to check basics - what driver did you try from HP?
Code: Select all
lsusb
Code: Select all
sudo apt install ipp-usb sane-airscan
Re: Installation problem HP scanner
Driver:
hplip-3.21.10.run
hplip-3.21.10.run
Re: Installation problem HP scanner
None of the last 2 worked!

Does it print?
Reason I ask is that you mention the scanner rather than the printer.

Then what shows up on lsusb?
While you're at it, can you let us know your inxi:

The command I asked you to do earlier on - Open Terminal, copy/paste the following and then copy/paste the output into your reply, along with the inxi report (above)
Code: Select all
lsusb

Re: Installation problem HP scanner
It might be worth you updating your kernel to the latest 5.4.
However,
Could you provide the inxi report which will let us know your hardware.
Also, can you run us through the exact steps that you took when you installed hplip.
If you unplug the printer from usb, does the computer still 'see' the printer if you try to print a document?

Re: Installation problem HP scanner
Ok - you are only an update away from the latest 5.4, so don't worry about that.
So, we can assume you haven't got hplip installed on your computer then?
Keep your printer's USB unplugged. We'll see what airprint gives.
Can you type the following commands and give both their outputs in your reply.
