Currently running 18.3. Attempted install of 20.2 from DVD on 10-year-old custom build desktop. No video was displayed. Previously (several years ago) attempted to run 18.2. System became unresponsive after idle suspend. Fixed by installing 18.3 instead. So this is not the first time I've encountered apparent video? problems.
Successfully running 20.2 on ancient Acer laptop. Desktop based on ASUS 990 FX Sabertooth and AMD FX 8350 CPU. Am trying Ubuntu 20.04-3 and Mint 19.3. Will report.

Re: Black screen on install attempt
Try the 20.2 Cinnamon Edge ISO instead if the regular Cinnamon ISO.
