Errors when turning ON

Post by bake55 »

Hi, I tried installing Linux Lite over Windows 10 and I failed. There were errors and installation didn't boot. I also had some vmlinuz error. But the strange thing is usb stick (1) was named Linpus lite both grub and bios.

So I got borred and put Mint 19 via Rufus on usb stick (2).
Second stick was also seen as Linpus Lite in bios

I managed to install it somehow, I had some errors.

So I entered Bios and Disabled Secure boot and here I see that my Ssd is named Ubuntu :| :?: :?:
I restart it, and vmlinuz error dissapered but other errors are still here:

then It display login but it's not Gui
and the errors continue until it shows Gui login.

Now system don't boot so I had to switch Graphic card to UMA in Bios.

You could try using Mint 20 and you might have better luck as itmay be more compatible with your hardware - try this version first,
https://linuxmint.com/edition.php?id=292

or if your computer is within a year or so old, Mint 20 Edge Version
https://www.linuxmint.com/edition.php?id=296

Be sure to read the installation notes and follow them carefully.

Let us know how it goes.
Next time you post, if you need more help, follow number 5 in the follow link so we have some info about your hardware or you won't get much useful help:

I made snapshot and updated to 20.0 with errors while booting, now I hit a wall. The system show logo and that's it. Or it doesn't show it. So I switched graphic card to UMA in Bios and it was kinda okay. I updated to latest Mint ver.

So I followed this guide to disable nouveau https://askubuntu.com/questions/897627/ ... 20-on-boot
After the nouveau disabled, I entered bios and enabled Discrete gpu. Installed latest official Nvidia driver.

And now I receive this error when booting:

To be honest, if you installed 19 then upgraded to 20 you'll save loads of time by just downloading the 20.3 version and re-installing from scratch.
A clean install is easier to troubleshoot.
With your hardware, Mate should run well on your computer (once it works properly) and you shouldn't need the Edge version.

That was the idea 19 -> 20.3.
I have preinstalled win10 license. So maybe that's why I had problems installing linux over it. Plus You neglected that 2 installation sticks are read as Linpus/Ubuntu.

I have this strange error when turning on and I don't know how to get log for it.

BTW, I disabled Intel trust platform and enabled Secure boot.

Did you disable fast boot in Bios and Windows?Boot from a live 20.3 usb and test. See if you get the errors.
If I have helped you solve a problem, please add [SOLVED] to your first post title, it helps other users looking for help.

Fastboot is disabled, secureboot isn't.

So, I put live usb stick and booted, errors occured:
1. vmlinuz
2. nouveau

I waited some time and it boots!

When restarting from live usb...
Bug soft lockup - cpu#0 stuck for 22s xorg 1317

But there was no "system program problem detected"

I disabled Secureboot now.
So, now when I turn on, Lenovo boot logo appears 2x.
Once when I turn on and then I got Mint logo; and then Lenovo logo again.
When I restart/shut down there is Lenovo boot logo before Mint logo.

Not sure if the system is booting after disabling secure boot. Whats the status?
Test your CPU especially with https://orcacore.com/stress-tests-and-b ... in-ubuntu/.

You may also boot from live USB, copy your data to an external drive and reinstall the system since the system is working after booting from usb0

The system is working great, except the error I get every time I login "system problem detected".
Reinstalling whole system because 1 error is boring.
