Linux Mint 20.3 Edge not Booting

Post by AlexanderMint »

Hello Friends,
I've made a video of the problem
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jeSesw8bC8E
Linux (even the Edge version) does not boot and
I don't know what is the problem/what is happening?
Can you tell me from the logs you see what is the problem?
Recovery Mode has the same problems.

I installed Linux Mint last year on my new HP ENVY Desktop PC
(DUAL Boot with Windows since I need it for office)
with Secure Boot enabled und TPM 2.0 enabled
on a PCI SSD (Kernel: 5.4, now tried 5.13 EDGE with Grub 2.04).
Disabling Secure Boot does not work.

My Hardware:
i7-11700 with Intel HD 750
Geforce RTX 3060
Samsung HPS4NFXV SSD
32GB RAM

Linux Mint 20.3 with Kernel 5.4 started but it had lot's of problems
(not I get the same problems as with 5.13):
- internet has not worked
- the UI wasn't usable
- my graphics card was not properly recognised
- booting has not worked all the time (as you see in the video)

If you can't solve the problem, I'll maybe wait for the Vanessa release.
But I really do not think it will solve the problem.
My Brother has also a HP Notebook with much newer hardware running Arch Linux and it works, but I don't want switch Arch... Loving Mint and Cinnamon and Secure Boot.

The RTX3060 requires proprietary drivers which means turning off secureboot permanently or making a MOK to add to your system's BIOS. As far as I can recall, the required nvidia drivers aren't on the ISO either (instead they would be downloaded during the installation phase).
I’ll tell you a DNS joke but be advised, it could take up to 24 hours for everyone to get it.

Yeah, thanks. That is exactly what I did. I made a MOK and added them.
Maybe someone else or you have another idea. Maybe someone get the same screen and know what to do.
That is my hope... I also thought it would start without the drivers since I also have the Intel 750 HD.
