No bluetooth after upgrade to LM 21

Post by Roland »

Upgrade from LM 20.3 to LM 21 went well, but no more bluetooth?? Not in the menu, not in the settings.
How can I get bluetooth back?

Thanks,

Open software manager and reinstall blueman.

Thank you, Cosmo.
When I try to install Blueman, it says to remove kernel 5.13 but I can't.

I think, that the problem with kernel 5.13 is the explanation, why Blueman has not been installed. For the kernel issue I have momentarily no idea (and I don't understand the Dutch (?) messages). If nobody else jumps in revert by using Timeshift.

I used Timeshift to reverse to LM20.3, took me less then 10 minutes!
Thank you again. I will stay at 20.3 for now; upgraded just out of curiosity.

Out of my curiosity: Which kernel is in 20.3 currently in use?

Thank you.

If you should at any time try another attempt, I suggest to remove all installed kernel 5.13 before the upgrade.

Bluetooth connection problems

Post by VAK »

I have a Dell Inspiron 3537 with Core i3, 8GB RAM and dual boot with Mint 20.3 and 21, both fully updated. I am unable to connect either of my two Bluetooth earphones in LM21, although LM20 works okay. The problem appears to be with the new Bluetooth manager Blueman. The device gets connected and then disconnected automatically within a couple of seconds. Please suggest a remedy.

Update : Updated just today and found all okay. Thanks guys.

My first suggestion: Open an own thread, otherwise things will get terribly confusing.

I have a Dell Inspiron 3537, with Intel Core i3 and Intel graphics. I just discovered that my Bluetooth connection works fine after my laptop is first turned ON. After I close the lid the laptop goes into sleep mode, but on resumption if I try reconnecting my Bluetooth headphone it refuses to work.
On manually opening Bluetooth devices and right clicking the headphone icon and selecting connect, I get a message "Connection Failed: br-connection-adapter-not-powered". Each time I am forced to restart.
Please look into the matter.

Vak,
My first suggestion: Open an own thread, otherwise things will get terribly confusing.
As suggested by Cosmo, if you need help, you need to create your own thread, not piggy back someone elses.

Thanks @Cosmo, I also had to (re?)-install blueman, now the Bluetooth entry in Devices Section is available.
(I made a fresh Mint 21 installation and missed the Bluetooth entry.)

No bluetooth after upgrade to LM 21.1

Post by VAK »

I recently upgraded to LM21.1 on my Dell Inspiron 3537, fully patched as on date. The Bluetooth connection to my headset works only after several manual tries. This was never a problem before the new Bluetooth Manager "Blueman" was introduced. Bluetooth before LM21 worked like a charm. Just turn the headset On and it connected without any delay.
I wonder why people like to make so many changes and release newer versions of an OS before fully testing it. This was not the case earlier with Linux Mint. Bluetooth for me has been a nightmare during the last few months. Every new update seems to upset something in my Bluetooth connection. I only hope you guys will rectify the matter once and for all.

Ubuntu is based on Debian, LM is based on Ubuntu. The problem comes from ubuntu and until they fix it we are stuck with it.
