Failed to start default target ERROR (after moving home to another drive)

Post by AutisticChiliDog »

I was following this guy's tutorial on how to move my home folder to another drive to have space and I rebooted and then the errors came.

I'm not sure if you guys can see the images but I'll try to describe it best as I can.
So I turn on my pc as usual, go to linux mint option click on it, but it says I'm in emergency mode and when I press Control+D I get an error saying "systemd-fstab-generator[834] Failed to create unit file /run/systemd/generator/home.mount as it already exists"

It prints this 4 times then it says "Starting default target"
Then "Failed to start default target: Transaction for graphical.target/start is destructive (emergency.target has 'job' queue)"

Then if I wait a few minutes, it goes to the login screen, but if I login its just a black screen then it goes back to the login screen.

My question is, how do I reinstall Linux mint XFE, I also deleted my windows operating system im pretty sure because I wanted to make the jump to linux permanently.

I would really appreciate the help!

Boot the live system, open there from the menu Timeshift and point to the partition with the snapshots. Now revert to a suitable snapshot.

How do I open the Timeshift menu and point to a partition with a snapshot? I should also mention that I can't get to the OS and when I try, I get the errors. My only options are using a command line

The first part of my advice is: Boot the live system.

There is a menu like in the installed system, you find Timeshift there and after opening it you set the partition.

I dont even know what boot the live system means, if thats the first choice at like BIOS then I've done that. I'm gonna do all 3 options and send back everything that happens, also sorry for not using imgur, they don't upload fast enough and im being gangstalked as well.

https://ibb.co/nMwPPfS BIOS
https://ibb.co/YXh98dw CLICKED ON 1ST OPTION, LOADING
https://ibb.co/fFf5bv7 GET THIS MESSAGE
https://ibb.co/YcjKnKk GET THE STARTUP AT TARGET ERROR
Wait a few minutes, screen turns black then go to login screen.
https://ibb.co/bv8B8d8
If I login, screen goes black for a few minutes, I can move my mouse. Then goes back to login screen.

Now going to option 2:
Generic mode
https://ibb.co/QN1tkYZ

Option 2: choice 1
Loading screen
Then the same screen as before
https://ibb.co/Y3Mtnhc
I press control + D and the error shows up
https://ibb.co/8D9x89j
Waiting and nothing seems to happen, I suppose when its red that means I gotta restart.

Option 2: Choice 2:
Recovery mode

Everything seems to be going well until it says MTD device must be supplied
https://ibb.co/JccgcnK

Then another message
https://ibb.co/StGZtxX
Then I get to the Recovery Menu (filesystem state: read-only)
https://ibb.co/jrL2P95

I knew I said I was gonna do all 3 but everyone knows what UEFI Firmware probably looks like.

So just if anyone knows how to fix this, please let me know👍

The live system is that, what you used to install Mint. A DVD or an USB stick.
