Hibernate
I installed Mint 21 on a new system. Partionned with a swap partition twice the RAM. Added another partition twice the RAM for hibernation. I tried to find information on the web on how to enable hibernation. I can click on Hibernate on the Cinnamon Menu. When i do, the system takes a few seconds to hibernate (just like on Windows). But when I boot my system, it boots normally rather than using what was put into hibernation.
Any info on how to enable this last stage?
Thanks

Re: Hibernate
You might be able to find some information here: https://ubuntuhandbook.org/index.php/20 ... ntu-21-10/
The page is actually about Ubuntu 22.04 on which LM21 is based.
My guess is that you need to add the "resume" parameter to Grub.
Note: I have not tried it, so "you are on your own".

I already have this in /etc/default/grub :
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash resume=UUID=67e00f52-9bb1-44df-9df3-2d52151d1558"
Of course I used "sudo update-grub" after that.
The UUID was copy/pasted from (GNOME) Disks.
Content of /etc/initramfs-tools/conf.d/resume :
RESUME=UUID=67e00f52-9bb1-44df-9df3-2d52151d1558
I also just did a "sudo update-initramfs" but it doesn't resolve the issue.

Re: Hibernate
That works, but it's not what I need (hibernation).deepakdeshp wrote: ⤴Fri Aug 19, 2022 2:20 am You can try suspend too

It's what I followed yet it does not work.MiZoG wrote: ⤴Fri Aug 19, 2022 6:20 am Sources for LM 20.x

The only difference with these guides is that I used a separate partition, not the swap partition.
Still no luck enabling Hibernation on Mint 21
It works on Windows' Desktop ...

Re: Hibernate
hybrid sleep mode
Code: Select all
sudo systemctl hybrid-sleep

Re: Hibernate
If hibernate does not work, than hybrid sleep cannot work.
Re: Hibernate
It seems (I haven't tested yet) that Hibernate works on Manjaro. Any idea why?deepakdeshp wrote: ⤴Sat Aug 20, 2022 2:15 am Hibernate doesn't work for many including me . The machine doesn't wake up . Good luck for your search.

Re: Hibernate
It differs from hardware to hardware. You can try installing the same kernel as in Manjaro and test.Goldorak wrote: ⤴Mon Sep 05, 2022 5:15 amIt seems (I haven't tested yet) that Hibernate works on Manjaro. Re: Hibernate
Randomly this can work. But hibernation works with the very same Mint version and the very same kernel on one machine, but not on the next. So it is a trial and error game. (I would bet, that also with Manjaro hibernation does only work on some hardware, not on all.)
