Computer freezes when i am pressing the installation icon

I would have suggested another usb maker, it wasn't till I used Rufus on a windows platform and DL the latest iso that my installation worked successfully. Using Mints own usb maker I had issues like the OP on an essentially solid PC.

did you by any chance have the iso 21 or 21.1?

I DL'd 21 as that was the latest and waited till i had time during the holidays. I had a terrible time trying to install it, I checked again and a newer release 21.1 was out, this was the 24th Dec.
