[SOLVED] BIOS Issues
My Dad has Linux Mint 21 Vanessa.
His motherboard is an ASUS P8H67 Pro.
I get this problem on boot-up:
mint vmx (outside text) disable bios
I went to the BIOS, and I can only find one thing about VMX..
(picture below) (and that is enabled, but nothing happens)
When it boots up the system, it went to safe-mode. No internet, screen looks very big at 800x600.
I can’t fix anything. I tried looking at different tuts. Nothing works..
Please Help??

Re: BIOS Issues
If it's enabled, does it make a difference if you disable it?

Best I can find is this: https://askubuntu.com/questions/1297433 ... ed-by-bios
Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't think the VMX is causing the other problems. I'd leave it disabled until someone else responds.
As for Grub, try tapping the Esc key at boot.

Re: BIOS Issues
Yes, I looked at that link. Nothing helped..
Edit: I used "esc", but it just leads me to the "Grub terminal". I mean the Grub Grub. Where you can select different kernels.

Re: BIOS Issues
You would find different kernels in Grub, Advanced Options.
Re: BIOS Issues
It might help to post what this shows:
Code: Select all

Re: BIOS Issues
OK you hooligans…
After hours more of looking, I found the culprit. It’s not what you’d think it to be…
The new kernel that he downloaded (from update manager), Kernel 5.0.15.0.56 was broken. Somehow I got into Grub, editing /etc/default/grub, and selected an older kernel, BAM it worked just fine…
If you ever get this problem, please direct them to this…
God, this was a goose chase…

Re: BIOS Issues
Glad you solved it, but what kernel is it now? The 5.0 kernel is quite old, so I suspect you meant an older 5.15 which is the default kernel on Mint 21.
