Intel RAID partitions not probed at boot

Post by valemax »

Hello All,
I installed Mint 21 on my laptop where I configured a RAID array with the BIOS Intel RST
The disk is seen in linux as /dev/mapper/isw_cdcbbade_Volume1

At installation everything goes well, I choose to use LVM and encrypt the whole disk.

At reboot I get the initramfs prompt after it timeouts waiting for the root device.
ls at initramfs prompt shows that the partitions in the raid disk are not detected

Running manually kpartx -a detects and adds the partitions correctly, then using cryptsetup open manually (still at initramfs prompt) and exiting from prompt allows proceeding with boot

I created a script in /etc/initramfs-tools/scripts/local-top that runs the two commands above and updated the initramfs, but even this is not optimal as I need to press "ESC" timely or I'm shown only the mint logo and can not input the password.

Any suggestion on how to solve properly?
