(Resolved) system kernel panics on boot, broken by Nvidia driver 520 or newer
For whatever reason, I tried to updating the graphics driver for my Nvidia RTX 2060 to version 525 and I rebooted my PC to see that it kernel panicked and every single time I try going into the recovery menu on the two latest kernel versions, it keeps giving me an out of memory error, I still have an older Linux kernel that works for getting into the recovery menu and yes having three different kernel versions on your computer is not the best idea but it's the only way I can even remotely use the system in recovery mode, outside of recovery mode it is completely non-functional. Can I please receive some help on this? I need to get my PC functional by tomorrow because that's when I have a stream scheduled. I will be trying G part of life to see if it's a drive issue it might be considering that the colonel panic states that the drive could not be mounted.

Restore a Timeshift snapshot dating from before the disaster.

Boot from the Mint live USB stick and launch Timeshift in the live session. Then point it to the snapshot on your hard disk.FoxbitPlayz wrote: ⤴Mon Dec 05, 2022 2:14 pmQuestion, how can I use the timeshift application if I can't even get to a graphical desktop?

Seems janky, but when has Linux ever been straightforward?Pjotr wrote: ⤴Mon Dec 05, 2022 2:20 pmBoot from the Mint live USB stick and launch Timeshift in the live session. Then point it to the snapshot on your hard disk.FoxbitPlayz wrote: ⤴Mon Dec 05, 2022 2:14 pm
Question, how can I use the timeshift application if I can't even get to a graphical desktop?
Also, I have my backups stored on a second drive to my system drive, do I need to specify each drive individually or will it figure it out just by reading the time shift thing?
Edit: never mind, it pulled it and in the event that I would have needed to restore it anyway I would have manually because the option would be there.

Final message, I lost quite a fair bit of software in which I had installed, but that just goes to show that you need to crate backups often in the event that you create a major screw up like I did. I'm sorry that I didn't realize that I could just use the installation DVD to restore my system like you can in Windows, I apologize for wasting your time.
