Gparted Question [SOLVED]

Post by Keith2021 »

I don't have a problem but just a question...How is this possible, look at the picture, there is no boot partition or any other partitions Just the ext4.
Here is my specs. I am using the laptop now to ask this question, what am I missing?
I used gparted in Linux Mint 19.3 XFCE 32 bit and I checked it from gparted that I used at bootup on a thump drive. Both show the same. Any comments?

Re: Gparted Question

Yeah . . that would be correct . .

the one single partition, on an 32bit system, with all partitions now in an sub-folder of /root
:)
even the swap-file in now under the same /root folder.
8)

some of us, do still like the old way, of using separate partitions, though.
- which would still have to be pre-setup, each time.

this new method, is easier for the installer to use.

Clearer than spring water.
BIOS Machine.
MBR partitioning.
Partition active (boot flag).

I don't use 32 bit that much and never paid any attention to that. I installed a new SSD Acer 250gib drive and Mint and it runs like a new computer but I don't like that I can't run the new programs but for a $15.00 upgrade what can I argue about?
Thanks for the info, I'll remember that. :D

Re: Gparted Question [SOLVED]

Observation:
The partitioning scheme used (single partition) is related to:
- BIOS machine
- MBR partitioning
- activating (boot flag) on the system partition is only necessary if the core of the Boot Manager (grub) is installed on it. If grub is installed on the disk (not on the partition) there is no need to activate the partition.

It has nothing to do with whether the system or processor is 32 or 64 bit.
