'grub_calloc' not found

performed a Linux mint update yesterday and been reading post trying to repair the existing install. if I try to set prefix , then set root I receive invalid file name 'boot/grub/i386-pc/normal.mod'

I tried the repair disk but received another invalid message , would like to repair / rollback so I can maintain my Gimp / Darktable settings.

I do have a bootable linux Mint usb which is workable. Not sure what to verify /try next

k, I was finally able to use a bootable drive , do a restore via timeshift.

Mint and Gimp work at the moment , but Darktable will not open .

Here is some info.

I read to delete the.db file - which I did after obtaining the info , but DT still wont open.

Is there a clean way to restore DT ?
